Vidya's Silent treatment to Rajinikanth, Vidya Gives Rajinikanth The Silent Treatment

Actress Vidya Balan, who will be doing a special song in Urumi, says it is a gift to her parents as they always wanted to see her in a Malayalam film.

Directed by Santosh Sivan, Urumi is a historical film, starring Prithviraj, Genelia D'Souza and Prabhu Deva, besides Vidya, Arya, and Tabu in cameo appearances.

"I have done a song and few scenes. I did it because my parents always wanted me to do a Malayalam film. So it is my gift to them," Vidya said in an interview.

About the song, the actress said, "It is not an item song as I play an oracle. It is not item song in the way we see it...it is just a special appearance song."

The actress has also dubbed for the movie in her own voice. "I was really happy doing dubbing because my mother came to studio for the first time. She studied the scene and complimented me for it. I was thrilled," the 33-year-old actress said.

Vidya will be seen next in Sujoy Gosh's Kahaani, a thriller that releases on June 17.

"I am playing a pregnant woman who comes down from London to Kolkata in search of her husband who has gone missing. So it's a search story," Vidya said.

The actress received kudos for her power-packed performance in No One Killed Jessica.

"I am thrilled and humbled that No One Killed Jessica got me the appreciation and it did commercially well. Lot of people used to say that a film with two heroines and no hero will not do well commercially. But the movie has changed that perception."

When asked if she is doing Rajnikant-starrer Raana, Vidya refused to comment.

Silk Smitha is easier than Indira Gandhi: Vidya Balan, Vidya Balan says silk smitha is easier than Indira Gandhi

These days when ever we hear of Silk Smitha, next moment we confirm it with film 'Dirty Picture' of Vidya Balan. The name of south seductress Silk is enough to generate the feeling of lust. Apparently many feel that it would be challenging for Vidya Balan to portray the character. When you ask Vidya Balan on same question, she has something different in mind.

"Never the less film is an ode to the life of sexy siren Vijaya Lakshmi better known later as Silk Smitha and her journey to stardom followed by mysterious death. What I feel is, playing the character of Indira Gandhi is hard than Silk Smitha. People know the mannerisms of Indira Gandhi and we can't go wrong. Same applies even for Amitabh Bachchan while Silk Smitha is going to be my personal interpretation than impersonation," says Vidya Balan on taking the sex symbol of South cinema.

Vidya Balan Searching for Bengali Man

Bollywood beauty Vidya Balan and leading Bengali band 'Chandrabindoo' were seen sharing the platform together in a city hotel on Friday as they shared their experiences of working together for a new television commercial of hair oil brand Nihar Naturals.

"Working in this commercial for Nihar Natturals was a wonderful experience as the song captured the brand's message to the Bengali woman who are always very intelligent and progressive thinking," Balan said.

"Chandrabindoo's catchy tune and lyrics, the fresh and engaging approach of the TV commercial is sure to strike a chord with all the women of Bengal," Balan said.

The actor said that she feels a strong bond for Kolkata and searches for excuses to visit the city.

"I am deeply associated with Bengal. I think I hardly know anybody having so much touch with Bengal as I do," she said.

Expanding her love for Bengal, she said humorous tone: "I am always searching for a Bengali man to settle down with.See if I can get him," she said.

It was absolutely a different experience for the city to see the gorgeous actor reciting popular Bengali rhymes like: "Ramgorurer chana na haste tader mana".

Speaking about her upcoming movie named 'Kahaani', Balan said: "The film has been directed by Sujoy da (Sujoy Ghosh) and the entire film has been shot in Kolkata."

"This has been five years after which I had a full-fledged shooting in Kolkata," she informed.

Balan said that she is willing to work in a Bengali movie with ace Bengali director Rituparno Ghosh.

"Every year we feel we should work together, but it never realizes," she said.

Speaking about her upcoming film on actor Silk Smitha, Balan said: "You won't be able to imagine me in that role! But that is a challenge for an actor."

"I have not started preparing for the film, but I will watch her films once I start preparing for the film," she said.

Vidya's Hot Pants For The Dirty Picture

Vidya Balan will strut her stuff in hot pants in Silk Smitha's biopic The Dirty Picture.

Jittery about her bold outing, Vidya confesses that her nerves are getting the better of her as the rehearsals start. Presently working with the costume designer Niharika Khan, the Filmfare winner will be seen wearing lots of tight clothes, the shorter the better.

Turning the conservative Vidya we know into the bold Smitha is sure going to be a task. Director Milan Luthria, however, thinks that the talented actress is in safe hands.

After getting a feel of her sensual side in Ishqiya, Luthria feels that Vidya has it in her to portray the Southern siren like none other.

Katrina, Deepika won't speak up

...but that keeps the ball rolling

Times have changed. Once Ranbir Kapoor wore Deepika on his arm, and she got RK tattooed on the nape of her neck. It was cool to show off your boyfriend. And be open about the fact that you had one. Lara Dutta spoke well about Kelly Dorjee, and was more than open to answer questions about him. Shahid and Kareena were madly in love and spoke openly about their feelings, same with Saif, who smiled as the entire world gasped at his Kareena tattoo on his forearm.

But time has gone by, and flaunting a boyfriend just isn't cool anymore. At least, nobody from the Hindi film industry seems to be doing it. Ranbir, Katrina won't admit that they are a couple and actually 'dating'. Siddharth Mallya and Deepika Padukone are spotted together everywhere but they remain tight-lipped about their relationship status; So what if Shahid Kapoor was the one who opened Priyanka's house door for the IT-officials, that really doesn't make their relationship 'official'. Lara Dutta preferred to keep mum on her torrid affair with Dino Morea, and went public with her love for Mahesh Bhupathi only very late. Now, Vidya Balan won't speak about Siddharth Roy Kapoor. And the one common thing about all these actors are: they won't confirm it, but they won't deny it either.

Deepika Padukone is very firm about keeping her mouth shut. "You give the media one piece of information, and they want to know everything else. You tell them you are dating, next they want to know when you are getting married, and when will you plan babies. They enter the bedroom directly, and won't give you your privacy. It's extremely important that we talk only about what we think should be written. I made a mistake by talking about my personal life once, I doubt I'll do it ever again."

Lara Dutta was on a no 'personal questions please' spree for a very long time. A firend of the actor's tells us, "Maybe she was fighting her own battle at that time. Even speaking to the media puts tremendous amount of pressure, because everyone else, who is not even closely related to you is then judging you and governing what you should be doing and what you shouldn't be doing without having a clue of the real story."

Sonam Kapoor, too, made a statement, that she'll never go to the press with her 'love stories'. "My mum says it's crass," said Deepika on a talk show, "It's not dignified."

Priyanka Chopra questions the media back when she is questioned: "So are you and Shahid a couple?" PC: Did he tell you that? Did I tell you that? And the story goes on. Nobody will say a thing, but yes, they'll open doors for IT officials in their boxer shorts , go for long drives and dinner dates, and even lip-lock in public, like Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma did at Shahid Kapoor's birthday bash (which PC didn't attend!), but those lips will be sealed, so what if only by pressing against their better-halves'... We guess, the speculation just keeps them in the news. And they manage to have their cake and eat it, too!
