I would go to the apple store, but I don't know how the whole situation would go with it being in the mall? I'm taking my chances at the att store. I'm just going to set up the night before and wait it out.

Based on the database-driven backend, and reading through the online manual, I doubt there is a limit on the number of levels he can define.
So we'll just have to wait and see. :)
Intresting... so couldn't we have custom titles or something?
Or more titles...
I figured here would be the most appropriate thread to post my 2,000th post. :)
And there was much rejoicing. *Yaaaaay...*
Congratulations. :)

Can somebody please link to the keynote stream or the MacRumors page from this thread?
I've been avoiding sites all day and I didn't get an email.
Here (http://events.apple.com.edgesuite.net/f27853y2/event/index.html?internal=fj2l3s9dm) ya go. Out of curiosity, how did you navigate to this thread without seeing some of the headlines?

Hi all,
I recently purchased the new 2011 MBP and a friend provided me with a cracked, full version of iWork which was installed as normal and required a serial number which worked successfully.
My MBP is now telling me that there are software updates available for it however I was wondering if anyone knows if I perform the software update will my version no longer work (i.e. will apple know I did not buy the product and it won't let me use iWork anymore)?
Thanks
Daniel

Apple should just let this slide. Seriously, it's Javascript.
That's because they don't want any competition with safari so they force them to remove a major function
It's ridiculous that apple would do this

^I'll be sure to download those apps if I get the Mac.
I just noticed that it probably won't come with iMac G4 speakers. :( Does anyone know where I can get a set? I probably could ask here, and I'm willing to pay for them, too. However, if the internal speaker is good (is it?), then I won't worry about the speakers.

The MBPs get updated far more often than the MP, so they "age" quicker, decreasing their resale value. Almost two MBPs a year, whereas the Mac Pro gets update every what, 18 months?
The fact that you can't upgrade a notebook has already been said.
Pop in two 3GHz quad cores, 16GB RAM, a 5870 and some SSDs in a 2006 Mac Pro and you still have a more than decent machine for the vast majority of tasks.
A 2006MBP, however, is pretty much done these days. A maximum of 2GB RAM and a SATA 1.5Gb/s interface make this machine not impossible to upgrade, by beyond practicality.

4 pin = 400 FW no power - used on DV video cameras
6 pin = 400 FW with power - HD's, scanners, etc
9 pin = 800 FW with power
The great thing about firewire... no processor power is used, unlike USB that uses the processor.

"Mac OS X v10.5.6 or later: A Safe Boot deletes the dynamic loader shared cache at (/var/db/dyld/). A cache with issues may cause a blue screen on startup, particularly after a Software Update. Restarting normally recreates this cache."

1. Be sure your Mac is shut down.
2. Press the power button.
3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear)."

Most latch troubles are caused by the user opening the lid and rolling the thumb over the hook before it has a chance to stow - so be careful.

I have a 17" iMac G4 that I am looking to sell.
The specs are:
17" screen
1.25 ghz
768 meg of ram
80 gig hard drive
Superdrive
FX 5200 video card
OSX Panther edition w/ discs
Apple Pro keyboard, mouse, and speakers
Couple of games as well.
The computer is in excellent condition. I bought in mid September of 2003. I have never sold anything on ebay so I have no supporting seller bona fides. I live in NC and would prefer to sell here and would hand deliver. However, I will ship anywhere in US. I will post pics when I get back home (I am work right now).

FWIW, your code doesn't work for me, but your call, in my code, seems to (replacing my malformed IOConnectCallScalarMethod with your IOConnectCallMethod). Thanks for that.
That's essentially what I was looking for as well, first just a way of figuring out how the backlight LED levels are determined and then trying to see if it could be controlled.
Interesting. It works great for me in Xcode 3.2.6 on OS X 10.6.6. Are you using another version or OS? How does it break for you? I just created a new Application -> Command Line Tool -> Foundation, add IOKit to the project and away we go.

Call me old fashioned, but there's something about paper that I still prefer over eBooks in many situations. One advantage is you can glance at large portions of the document at the same time (by flipping around and skimming) and you can even separate a printed document and compare things side by side if needed. You can also highlight, underline, and take notes on the page.
I find myself using both on a day to day basis (well, not eBooks per se, but PDF versions of documents). I'll print out a software design document, for example, which describes in detail the stuff I'm programming or working on, for the reasons I mentioned above -- it's very handy to be able to circle something or jot down notes. On the other hand, there are a few reference documents I use on a regular basis and I like to pull up the PDF and search for specific terms.

very well... I made the mistake of learning on WYSIWYG and now i'm kicking myself for not being more intimate with it....
THEN
learn flash... people want it, plain and simple, but nothing beats the foundations...HTML.
I find the whole Flash scene to be nuts. I block flash at my browser because so much of it just ads anyway.
